That’s right, I signed up for yet another swap. This one I have been wanting to sign up for for a long time and have missed the sign up for. This time I watched the site and made sure I signed up as soon as I could. I’m now officially signed up for the Secret Pal 12! Since I’m officially apart of the swap, that means I’ve got me a questionaire to fill out. So away we go!
- What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely not like? I got turned on to Malabrigo yarn and now I’m hooked. I now know why there’s a Malabrigo group on ravelry! I have to say, I’m not a huge fan of acrylic yarns. Some aren’t that bad, but I have to say I’d rather knit with natural fibers.
- What do you use to store your needles/hooks in? Right now all my straight needles are stored in a really cool tiki tumbler. The circular needles are another story. They’re a mess. They’re hanging off the fabric handle of one of the fabric cubes that holding some yarn. Not the best solution but I don’t have any place to actually hang a circular needle holder.
- How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced? I’ve been knitting for a few years now. My grandma taught me how to crochet one year and then a couple years later she taught me the basics of knitting and then I took a class at So Much Yarn. I feel like it’s the one thing that I will happily teach my daughter (if I have one) and possibly my granddaughter. It’s something that I feel my grandmother and I share a special bond over. It makes me feel closer to my grandma, whom I love very much.
- Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? I have a wists list.
- What’s your favorite scent? That’s a tough one… in the morning it’s coffee. Flower wise, we have sweetpeas growing like a weed out front of our office and I love the smell of them as I walk into work. I think more floral smells I guess. Although a nice vanilla is just as good. Perhaps a just a good clean scent.
- Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy? Oh dear god yes. anything with chocolate… chocolate - but not white chocolate. I can’t believe that I’m going to say this, but it’s way too sweet for me. Recently I’ve been craving licorice allsorts. Yeah.. I know, I’m a bit of a freak.
- What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin? I have this bad habit of looking at something and saying, ” I could totally make that.” My dad is pretty crafty, so I blame him for that
I used to make sterling silver jewelry, so I’m pretty handy with a torch. I would love to take a pottery class or a screenprinting class. I think I’d try just about anything crafty, at least once. - What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD) I’m all over the board with my taste in music. I go from AC/DC to Chet Baker to Tribe Called Quest to Lilly Allen to Big Sandy and His Fly Right Boys. I’m a big fan of rockabilly and swing music and basically anything that can keep me motivated during my running workouts.
- What’s your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can’t stand? I not a huge fan of super bright colors. Neon colors are not at the top of my list, but I’m currently working on a blanket for a friend of mine and she picked some bright colors and it looks pretty darn good. So I guess I don’t really have a favorite color. If it resembles anything that came out of a baby’s dirty diaper or if it’s baby throw up color, chances are I’m not gonna like it.
- What is your family situation? Do you have any pets? Currently I’m single lady… holla back single, straight, got it going on, boys
Ok, I’ve got to admit, I do have a boyfriend… He’s my cat Jimbo. He’s got sister - Kinky Disco - aka The Kink
Jimbo’s the one on top:

Kink’s been trying to pick up knitting in her spare time.

- Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos? I wear scarves in the winter time, definitely hats and mittens, mostly fingerless/convertible gloves, as I work in a warehouse. I’m not so much a poncho person. I do really like some of the simple shawl patterns that I’m seeing on ravelry - of course Clapotis, Juno Regina Stole, Hanami stole, and I absolutely love Lady Eleanor. That’s the one I wish I had the time and patience to knit.
- What is/are your favorite item/s to knit? So far I loved knitting the Fuzzy Mittens Lamb, Dashing, and the Little Monster from 101 One Skein Wonders. And as much of a pain in the rear it was to seam, I love my Cables and Chains wrap jacket.
- What are you knitting right now? Right now I’m working on two projects - one is the Asymmetrical Cabled Cardi and Interlaken - an entrelac style blanket for a friend of mine as a belated wedding present. Hey… I’ve got a year to get it to them
- Do you like to receive handmade gifts? I love it! It’s something that makes it a bit more special
- Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic? I am all about bamboo. I love my circulars but I also use straight needles. I love the magic loop technique so I’m in need of some seriously long circular needles
- Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift? My dad made me a portable yarn swift from instructions we found on instructables.com
- How old is your oldest UFO? I think it’s at least a year or two.
- What is your favorite holiday? That’s tough… I think probably Christmas. I love giving people gifts.
- Is there anything that you collect? I collect vintage cameras and plastic toy cameras (Holgas and the like). And I also collect Floaty Pens. The ones that are when tip the pen, the car moves or something moves. I always ask my friends to bring them back for me when they go on vacation.
- Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have? That’s a loaded question isn’t it. I would love to have an entire wall of nothing but Malabrigo yarns. As far as books… I really want the 2 socks on circular needles book. I’m a huge fan of the Zephyr Style patterns and the French Girl Knits patterns. I really, really want the elusive Jess Hutchinson booklet that she no longer puts out. And I can always use a bunch of super long bamboo/wood circular needles and all sizes. I’ll be sure to add all my wants and needs to my wists list
- Are there any new techniques you’d like to learn? I just learned the magic loop technique and I’m hooked. I love it. Now I just need to master it. I’d really love to take a finishing class as I’m not the best at seaming. Actually I hate it. I now know why people pay other people to finish their projects.
- Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements? I just started knitting socks. I tend to go for the dk weight yarn as it knits up a bit faster. I’ve got a tiny foot - I’m a size 5 shoe.
- When is your birthday? August 7th, 1973 - this year is the 35th bday!
- What’s your Ravelry ID? beccalou
