Today I did the St. Paddy’s Day Dash. There were around 16,000 people running, walking, strolling… I believe it’s just shy of a 3.5 mile run. I didn’t do too bad. I think I finished in about 40 minutes or so. I can definitely tell that I’m in better shape than I was at the beginning of the year. I didn’t feel too beat after the race and I ran all of the race. Ok, I ran when I wasn’t stuck behind a walker or someone who was text messaging. I understand that in a race you can get separated from the people you came with, but do you really need to text someone in the middle of the race? Back in the day, you picked at spot to meet at when you finished the race. I miss those days.
there were a lot of people wearing green (of course). I saw a couple of guys with died green beards. One guy in one of the coolest green polyester leisure suits I’ve ever seen. And the best was a guy that I passed on the run. He was dressed in a sportcoat, tie and dress pants, with a mini bar strapped to his back. He had a gin, vodka, Jager and a mini keg of Heinekin. He was running like nothing was going on. And behind him, his friends were handing out drinks to passerbys. Now, admittedly, I was a bit parched, but in no way did a shot of Jager sound good at mile 2. But hey, that’s probably the Italian side of me talking.

Wonderful job on your race! St. Paddy’s races are so great for the crazy getups people wear during the run … because normally you only see that sort of thing in Marathons!
I ran the Shamrock half marathon last year, and the get ups made for a great way to forget the cold!
Congrats!
