It’s been a busy couple of weeks. I guess that’s probably why I don’t feel much like writing. But I figured if I didn’t force myself into writing something, I’d fall off the blog wagon and it would be years before I started back up again.
Christmas was good. There was snow on the ground and I got to put my favorite ornament on my parent’s tree. I spent a lot of time with grandma. She showed me a few knitting tricks. She’s quite the knitting guru. Now my mom wants me to make several crocheted angels. My grandma made a few for her a bit ago and now it’s my turn to make them. We’re talking about the ones that are made with thread and not yarn. I’m a bit scared of that. So I’ll put that off for as long as I can.
I finished the Decreasing Rib Capelet while I was home. I love it! It’s a bit large, but it’s warm and snuggly. I used Lamb’s Pride Bulky and the longer version took 3 skeins. I used 4 because of the length the pattern called for and it came out too long. So next time (and there will be a next time) I’ll use 3 skeins. The designer is super sweet. I posted my progress on Ravelry and she emailed me about the skein miscalculation. I love that. I love when people are nice. Strange… I know.
Today I did the Resolution Run in Magnuson Park. I didn’t do the polar bear dip and I’m kicking myself for it. My running buddy did it. Doing this run made me realize that I let my training slip a bit over the past year. I wish I could blame someone else for that, but the blame lies squarely on my shoulders. So one of my New Years resolutions is to get back into my training and eating better (this is going to be easier said than done. But I’m up for the challenge). I also realized that in all the races I’ve done, I’ve never had someone to run with. I’ve always done them on my own or with people who were much faster than me. So in a way I enjoyed this race a lot more because I wasn’t focused on beating my time from last year.
In an effort to keep my New Years resolution I’ll be signing up for the Love ‘Em Or Leave ‘Em race on February 10th. And if I’m still single then (which is probably going to be the case), I’ll be the one wearing the shirt that says “Single” on the back.
I also need to get fitted for proper running shoes. Because my knee is killing me and it’s all because I’m not wearing the right sneakers.
PS - I want to train with Jillian from the Biggest Loser. Hell, Bob too.
